Member Communities

The St. John River Valley Tribal Council provides advisory services and assistance to four Maliseet communities within the traditional Maliseet territory in New Brunswick:

Madawaska Maliseet First Nation

The Madawaska Maliseet First Nation is located adjacent to the city of Edmundston in northwest New Brunswick with a population of 143 on reserve and 132 off reserve. The Madawaska Maliseet First Nation has a land base of 310 hectares.

Woodstock First Nation

The Woodstock First Nation is located east of the town of Woodstock. The Woodstock First Nation has a total population of 875 members with 300 members living on reserve and 562 members living off. The Woodstock First Nation has a land base of 226.1 acres.

St. Mary’s First Nation

The St. Mary’s First Nation is located adjacent to the city of Fredericton. The St. Mary’s First Nation has a total population of 1,600 with 900 members living on reserve and 700 living off reserve. The St. Mary’s First Nation has a land base of 131.5 hectares.

The Oromocto First Nation

Oromocto First Nation is located adjacent to the town of Oromocto. The Oromocto First Nation has a total population of 513 members with 261 members living on reserve and 252 off reserve. The Oromocto First Nation has a land base of 26 hectares.
